Every active Shopify variant carries one inventory row per active location. Locations can be warehouses, retail stores, 3PLs, dropship suppliers or virtual pools. Standard plans include up to 10 locations; Plus increases the cap. Location strategy determines fulfilment cost, delivery speed and which stock is visible to which sales channel. Get it wrong and you'll oversell, overpay for split shipments or hide inventory from the channels that need it most.
