Vendor is a single-value field on every product used for automated collections, reports and multi-brand catalogs. It should be the actual brand or manufacturer — not the store name, not a warehouse, not a supplier code. Vendor drives the default Google Shopping brand attribute and appears in most theme filter widgets; setting it inconsistently (`Nike`, `nike`, `NIKE`, `Nike Inc.`) breaks both.
