Drafts are the safe place to stage changes: new products, seasonal variants, imagery updates and translations. They do not appear in the storefront, in feeds, in POS or in the customer-facing search index. Batching launches as drafts and flipping them to Active at a scheduled moment is the correct pattern — bulk-editing already-active products is where drift happens.
