Meta Description

The snippet Google shows under the SEO title in a search result.

The meta description doesn't directly affect ranking, but it dramatically affects click-through rate. Keep it between 120 and 155 characters, include the primary term once, and lead with a concrete benefit or spec. If you leave it blank, Google composes one from page text — that fallback is almost always worse than a written description because it grabs the first paragraph of boilerplate.
